Scientists in Schools
-Ms. Purvis came to visit our class to talk about genetics.  The class learned about the parts of the cell, what DNA is, the structure of DNA, inheritance, and cell division.  We isolated our own DNA from cheek cells, and created DNA models using licorice, ju jubes, and toothpicks.

Science
-Worked on organ systems.

Gym
-Played hockey.

Vow of Silence
-Me to We school wide activity
-All students dipped their hands in red paint, and placed them on a banner
-Across the school, the students upheld a "Vow of Silence" to honour all the children in the world whose basic human rights are not honoured




Language
-Looked at setting, mood, character traits for "All Summer in a Day"

-Career Cruising website.  Explored different careers based on a survey looking at personality and skills.  Started to complete chart.


Math
-Finished creating polyhedrons using polydron manipulatives.  Collected in class.
-Discussed vocabulary around various polygons.

Ms. Singh was at a workshop today.  This is what hopefully happened:

-Review vocabulary:  faces, edges, vertices, polygons, polyhedrons
-Create polyhedrons using polydron manipulatives

-Constructed 3D shapes using cubes from 2D drawings
-Drew 3D drawings
-Work was collected in class

Language
-Read "Who Owns the Land"
-Answered a question related to the title and ending.
-Collected in class
-All grade 8 classes are reading the same story, and answering the same question.

-Finished re-writing a new title for the song "Cat's in the Cradle"
-Created Success Criteria in class
