Discussed properties of a trapezoid, parallelogram, and rhombus.  Quiz on Friday.

Language
Write a journal entry about a bullying incident from the point of view of a bully, victim, or bystander.  Due Monday.

Guidance
Ms. Miller-Caise did a presentation about Self-Regulation.

Posted student marks on our bulletin board.  Marks have been listed under student id number, and indicate marks achieved to date.  There are still more evaluations before the report card.

Tomorrow is the last day for our Food Drive.

We picked names for Secret Santa.

Math
We talked about the properties of rectangles and completed a worksheet about the properties of squares.  This sheet was collected and marked.

Literacy
Finished looking at "Who Contributed" in the story "All Summer in a Day".  We talked about bullying, read a book called "Not My Fault", and watched clips from a CNN special about bullying.  We participated in a class circle and talked about why people bully, and why people get bullied.

Music
Learned semitones and tones and how to count them.

French
Did a worksheet about animals.

BRING FOOD FOR THE FOOD DRIVE.  LAST DAY IS FRIDAY !!!

Started looking at the concerns of different colonies prior to Confederation.  Students are working in groups.  You have a choice of:  creating a flag, presenting a skit, or presenting a tableau.  It is due Thursday.

Career Cruising
Continued working on Career Cruising worksheets.  We will continue this on Wednesday.  It is due at the end of class on Wednesday.

Math
Continued working on the Platonic Solids.  We will continue working on this on Wednesday.  The project is due on Thursday.

Scientists in Schools
-Ms. Purvis came to visit our class to talk about genetics.  The class learned about the parts of the cell, what DNA is, the structure of DNA, inheritance, and cell division.  We isolated our own DNA from cheek cells, and created DNA models using licorice, ju jubes, and toothpicks.

-Me to We school wide activity
-All students dipped their hands in red paint, and placed them on a banner
-Across the school, the students upheld a "Vow of Silence" to honour all the children in the world whose basic human rights are not honoured




Language
-Looked at setting, mood, character traits for "All Summer in a Day"

-Career Cruising website.  Explored different careers based on a survey looking at personality and skills.  Started to complete chart.


Math
-Finished creating polyhedrons using polydron manipulatives.  Collected in class.
-Discussed vocabulary around various polygons.

Visited historic sites around the St. Lawrence Market, and discussed some of the history of Toronto.  Students also had the opportunity to enjoy the food at the market.

Math - Started unit on Geometry.  Made 2D and 3D drawings on square dot paper and isometric dot paper.

Language - Write a new title for the song "Cat's in the Cradle".  Use the singer's main idea, the elements of text, and/or your own thinking to support your ideas.  Started question today.  Will continue on Wednesday.
